Tricks of the Trade (Kenji)

[Zuka]

Zuka listened as he laid out how things were going to go for the foreseeable future and it was reasonable, she was surprised she was still willing to go through with it if she was being honest. This seemed like it would be more trouble than what Kenji was willing to give but she was not going to complain. It got here what she wanted at least. There was a small snag in his demands thou, telling the Triad that she was going to be gone for a undetermined amount of time was not going to be easy but...she would do it. Zuka was confidant that she could make them see things her way.

Yeah, this might work out after all.

She waited a moment before she gave him her answer, didn't want to seem too eager to jump into the agreement and there was still a small part of her that didn't trust Kenji to not pull something like he did tonight again and have her actually end up in jail. It was a concern but it wasn't a deal breaker and it wasn't until he said something about not giving her long that Zuka stuck out her hand and took his to seal the deal. He had issued a challenge to her and she couldn't back down from that, he thought she couldn't do it well...she was going to show him. She was going to stick with this no matter what he threw at her now just so she could prove him wrong.

"Deal. I hope you know what you're in for." She told him before releasing his hand. Kenji's part of the training would not be easy, high society etiquette was difficult to master, everything you did was judged and even the slightest and seemingly insignificant mistake could give you away and judging by what she had seen of him so far....he had a lot to learn.

Surprisingly, she shook on it. He had to admit he had not been expecting that,but hey it was her choice, he was personally curious how long she could live with it. As she mentioned his own part in this he let out a small smile as he held out his fingers " Two things you'll learn about me, the first thing is I'm a...relatively  quick study. The second is that deception," he paused and chuckled " well let's just say deception and me are old friends." To Kenji it seemed like it was just the same trick of pretending to be someone else only different (albeit more complex) set of tricks he needed to make people believe the lie.

He might be more worried if he didn't enjoy challenges...

"As for you..." he said pausing " I think we'll start with locks first, it'll help you develop some patience for the things you'll need later." he then took out a coin from his pocket and flipped it in the air catching it, and then placed it on the table as now was bent in the shape of  a small sleeping dragon "Go to a shop with the same logo in the lower parts of Omashu, and give them this,they'll furnish you with some beginners picks that you'll need." he said

Zuka rose a brow slightly at how sure he sounded about everything well, he would find out soon enough. It actually mind be kind of fun; bossing him around with a reason that he can't argue with. Yes, fun indeed. As he pulled the coin out of his pocket Zuka watched while he flipped it but what he sent down was no longer a coin. Well, no wonder why he was so good at this stuff, if he could bend metal like that. That had to make things easier and it almost felt like cheating to her but..Zuka kept that to herself.

Leaning forward Zuka reached out and took the small figurine from the table and tucked it in her hand for now. "Seems simple enough" Despite the challenge she knew this was going to present and how hard she knew he would make this she was excited. What he could teach her had always been something she had wanted to learn but never had the chance too before. "Anything else?" Was this going to be like being back in school, did she need to have a list of things before they started. Somehow she doubted it but she was still trying to keep her cool over what had happened at the party and talking about little things helped her.

At her question if there was anything else, Kenji merely chuckled and said " No that'll be fine for now. We won't need more until you make your way to more advanced locks, and given your current aptitude and patience, that might take a while, so we'll start slow on the shopping list." He hastily gulped down the rest of the drink briefly grimacing a little at the burn as he said " So now unless you have any other questions, I'm going to take my leave, seeing as we're going to be spending an inordinate amount of time with each other, I  think I'm going to unwind from this evening festivities in private company." he said with a brief smirk as he slowly rose up.

He just loved to tell her how impatient she was didn't he? This was going to be hell, there was no other way to put it. She was already ready to kill him after one night working together she couldn't imagine what the rest of this was going to be like...and, if she wanted to learn this she would have to swallow her words or anger at him. Easier said than done, Zuka knew she had a very abrasive personality and Kenji, well. Kenji was Kenji. It would surprise her if one of them hadn't killed the other after a month.

I'm going to take my leave, seeing as we're going to be spending an inordinate amount of time with each other, I think I'm going to unwind from this evening festivities in private company."

Zuka held up her hand in a 'dont want to hear anymore' she could have gone without knowing that little bit of information. Well it seemed that this was it for the night and since he was leaving so was she. Zuka had her own unwinding to do but hers was going to involve a very long hot bath and a couple of very strong drinks. Making sure the tiny dragon figure was still safely in her hand Zuka stood from her chair. "See you soon, partner" and with that she went to the door and exited. She had a bit of a walk back to her own apartment which would give her time to think of how she was going to manage all of this. Zuka wanted this enough and she would figure it out, she always did.
