Neva took the card, reading over the print and listening to what Zuka had to say. The girl was obviously the owner or else she wouldn’t be keeping business cards on her person. From what Neva could tell, it wasn’t just the average bar either. Just looking at the card’s design it gave off the impression that this was a well-to-do club, nothing like the ones where she worked. Neva half smiled, “I knock your stuff out of your hands and then you offer me another job? That seems like it should be the other way around.”
It was only a half joke. Neva hadn’t ever thought that clumsiness would end with her being hired somewhere else. The questions was, would she accept the offer? It didn’t sound like this was a position that was handed out on a regular basis. While she didn’t want to accept solely on the idea of money, Neva knew where her finances stood. With the Triads bullying her employers out of money around the clock, a lot of that came out of her pay. There wasn’t much that she could do to stop that, and Neva had been scrounging for years because of it.
She’d worked her hardest since she had come to Republic City. In a way, this was like a reward for her effort, and she couldn’t afford to say no. It would be foolish to say no to something like this too. “Thank you, Zuka. The only way I can think to repay you is to take the job.”
Slipping the card into her pocket, Neva gave another small smile, “As long as you don’t mind someone who is...not very high in class working there.”
Though her work ethic was appealing, Neva was pretty close, if not completely, poor, and having little possessions to claim as hers. Sometimes she just managed to keep her head above the water, so to speak. Maybe she’d fit in working wise, but social class...well Neva didn’t think she could compare to the patrons.
