There are four types of bending: Water, Air, Fire and Earth and each bending technique has their own sub bending abilities. It takes a bender of considerable skill to master these other forms. Here is a list of the known 'special' bending arts.
*Admin approval is required for your character to have one of these skills:
Waterbending*Bloodbending: This is a very rare and difficult form to master (not to mention illegal) even the greatest waterbending masters can not master this technique without much practice and scarfice. Bloodbending involves bending the water in a person or animals body and enforcing your will upon them. If you wish for your character to be a bloodbender PM me and we will discuss your options.
Plantbending: Like bloodbending, plantbending has to deal with bending the water in a object and inforcing your will onto them. While this technique is not as rare as bloodbending it is still very difficult to master and frowned upon. It takes years of practice and control. Along with controlling the water in the plants the bender is also able to extract the water to use in emergency situations.
Healing: Waterbenders have the ability to heal others with their own chi, this takes a special kind of bender, and while it seems the skill is there for anyone who wants to learn it is not as easy as it looks.
EarthbendingSandbending: A form of earthbending, sandbending was created by the people of the desert to deal with the extreme and harsh conditions in order to survive. Not many people know about this technique because of its affiliation with the tribes people.
Seismic sense: The unique ability to perceive objects' locations by feeling acute vibrations through the ground. Similar in application to sonar and echolocation, seismic sense enables the practitioner to visualize earth-based objects or objects in contact with earth-based objects when out of sight. The technique provides a specific map of the practitioner's surrounding,
Metalbending: Created by Toph metalbending is using the mineral deposits found in metal to manipulate the substance. This technique has gained momentum and is now considered a widely known and major form of bending.
*Lavabending: A specialized sub-skill of earthbending that allows the user to manipulate molten earth. Talented earthbenders are capable of phase-changing earth into lava, lava into earth, and otherwise manipulating existing lava with great dexterity.
FirebendingLightning generation: Lightning is fires coldest and truest form. It was once considered that only firebending prodigies could lightning bend but over the years it seems the technique has gained popularity. In this day and age lightningbenders are a much more common but it is still a acquired skill .
Lightning redirection: Lightning redirection is a sub-technique of firebending that allows a firebender to absorb lightning into their body as energy, then release the lightning in a more desirable direction. The technique was developed by Iroh after he studied master waterbenders redirecting force rather than oppose it head-on. Lightning redirection works equally well for natural and generated lightning and takes months of practice.
*Combustion: A extremely rare form of firebending. The bender uses their own chi to create a beam of energy by super heating the air around him. The beam explodes on contact, and is capable of great destruction, both in short and long range. Unlike normal firebending, this does not produce a flame directly from the body. Those firebenders that are capable of combustion do not seem to have the ability to generate flame as well as normal firebenders.
Airbending*Spiritual projection: Master airbenders who have a strong connection with their spiritual side are capable of projecting their spirits into other locations. Through projection, an airbender is able to visit the spirit realm as well as explore underground or sealed locations by passing through solid matter. Airbenders can also use this technique to find individuals with whom they have a strong bond.
