Law and Order in Republic City

Spirit World Observation and Response Division - AKA SWORD

With the spirit portal now open a sizable spirit population settling in Republic city. While some are harmless and benign,and others have assimilated well into the human world, there are still plenty wild and destructive spirits that wander the streets and that is whats SWORD is for. The division was formed from both the Republic City Police force as well as specially officers from the United Forces units stationed in the city. Designed as a rapid response team for any spirit related chaos that goes down in the city,and standing orders to end any spirit threat quickly and efficiently by whatever means necessary.

Tactical Triad Task Force - AKA T3

A task force that was initially existed in days prior to Amon's overthrow of the city, this unit is charged with the arrest, detainment, and seizure of Triad members and contraband goods. It has recently been reinstated due to the uptick in Triad violence and crimes However with this task force's small budget and limited oversight(( due to chief Beifong's absence) it has also become the division most filled with officers that are "on the take" from one Triad or another, limiting the effectiveness.

Ambassadors

While the council may have been removed in favor of a President, there are still several members of each respective kingdom that serve as ambassadors and often serve as advisers the the president and frequently are frequently petitioned by citizens as well to "lobby" for certain laws and other such things to be passed. These ambassadors often enjoy diplomatic immunity while in the city. With Tenzin away training the new Air Nomads, there is currently no Air Nation ambassador, however with new airbenders popping up each day, it won;t be long before the new airbending people of the city start to demand someone to address their needs...
